My first workshop for this year, Slab Pottery, was a collaboration with my friend Iori who is also a potter. The participants learned about the process of making food-safe wares and made their own plates and cups. Everyone, including Iori and myself, was excited to knead and mould their 2kg-pack of clay.

A few minutes into the workshop, a camera crew from Net25 even came over to cover us as we worked, which they then featured in one of their evening shows!

After our pottery workshop, Anina held a calligraphy class at the studio. I always love it when calligraphers come over! With just simple strokes, they always manage to come up with the most beautiful handwritten notes.

The following day, my sister Germee and I had our first “Not Another Online Shop” workshop. It’s composed of a series of talks and activities especially designed for crafters and makers who want learn about the essentials of building a strong independent brand and making a handmade business more sustainable.

It’s very fulfilling being able to share to fellow craftpreneurs the things I’ve learned in the past three years of being a shop owner. It actually took me a year to prepare for this workshop, and it was worth it! My wish is for the participants – and to anyone who wants to have a handmade business – to never give up on their vision no matter what and always have courage to make. 🙂
